Preppy Hamptons chic has finally arrived with the opening of Roberta
Freymann's eponymous boutique on Fillmore Street. Brightly colored
tunics, kurtas, sarongs and dresses in soft cottons, airy linens and
fine silks comprise the collection, which ranges from $75 to $400.
There's also a colorful assortment of accessories like beaded clutches
in playful patterns, lightweight beach totes, and checked blue or red
scarves with a pom-pom border of cotton tassels that add a layer of fun.
The 650-square-foot space, painted a sunny orange with contrasting
black wooden floors and ornate features, captures the essence of
Freymann's aesthetic and transports shoppers to a warm South or East
Hampton beach. Jewelry such as the Beaded Bib, a sparkly necklace that's
exclusive to the Fillmore location, can spice up a daytime outfit or
pair with a contrasting kurta.
Freymann, whose collections are inspired by her worldwide travels and
designed with artisans in more than 20 countries, says the whimsical
bazaar environment she created on Fillmore Street reflects the energy
and overall spirit of the city and its denizens. "I knew San Francisco
and Fillmore Street in particular was the ideal home for our next
boutique," she said via e-mail. "I love the spirit of San Francisco with
its lively, colorful culture and Asian influence."
